Privacy

AnkiClip works with learning material. The website and backend are designed to collect as little as possible, limited to distribution, support, and explicitly enabled anonymous metrics.

What AnkiClip does not collect

  • Selected text
  • Clipboard text
  • Generated flashcard content
  • Anki deck names
  • API keys
  • API base URLs
  • AI model names
  • License keys
  • Raw error messages that may contain user content

AI provider configuration

AnkiClip uses the AI provider configured in the app. API keys, base URLs, and model settings should stay on your Mac and are not uploaded as website data.

Anonymous usage data

Anonymous usage metrics, if added, must be opt-in from the desktop app. They are limited to high-level product events such as version, platform, and feature usage, and must not include reading content, generated cards, deck names, raw errors, or provider configuration.

Website backend

The website backend stays lightweight: release information, download routing, and anonymous opt-in metrics only when those features are explicitly implemented. It does not provide accounts, payments, licensing, or analytics dashboards.
